Understanding Topeka’s Music Community
The Topeka Music Census is a community-led effort to better understand the people, places, and challenges shaping the local music ecosystem, including musicians, venues, educators, promoters, engineers, DJs, photographers, nonprofits, retailers, media, and creative entrepreneurs.
Currently, this program is in development, but if you’d like to join the effort, please click here to connect with us.
We want to hear from you.
The census will be live for two weeks in July 2026. We will post additional details, links and more information as it becomes available.
The data and findings will be made publicly accessible through reports, dashboards, and community presentations so the entire community can benefit from the results.
Led locally by Arts Connect, the Topeka Music Census is part of Kansas Music Cities Together, a year-long program designed to help Kansas communities better understand, connect, and support their local music ecosystems.
Kansas Music Cities Together is led by Sound Music Cities in collaboration with the Kansas Arts Commission and supported by Movement Musick.
