The Topeka Music Census is a community-led effort to better understand the people, places, and challenges shaping the local music ecosystem, including musicians, venues, educators, promoters, engineers, DJs, photographers, nonprofits, retailers, media, and creative entrepreneurs. The goal is to build a meaningful coalition that can help to ensure that Topeka has a thriving music scene for years to come.

Join ArtsConnect to celebrate the one and only Ms. Gwendolyn Brooks and her birth in Topeka, Kansas, on June 7, 1917. Hosted by poet, historian and Brooks’ protege, Quraysh Ali Lansana alongside Topeka poets Annette Hope Billings, Dennis Etzel, Jr., and Huascar Medina.

ArtsConnect is excited to announce that applications are now open for the 2026 TopArts Grant Program! If you’re an artist or organization planning an amazing art-focused program in 2026, this grant funding could help.

TopArts Grants are awarded in two categories – arts access and public art. Individuals and organizations are eligible and you’ll find more information about how to apply by clicking here. Also, we will host two grant workshops in January as well as “office hours” to support applicants as they work on their proposals.
